Mike began his journey at Macktown in the 1980s, when the organization was just a small team of four dedicated individuals laying the foundation for what Macktown has become today. Drawn by the site's historic charm and his own passion for preserving history, Mike saw an opportunity to contribute his unique skills and vision.
As the head of the site, Mike oversees its maintenance and ensures that the historical buildings receive the care and updates they need. His expertise in blacksmithing is a significant asset; he frequently demonstrates this ancient craft to the public during events, showcasing his extensive knowledge and skills.
Mike's background is steeped in hands-on work. He took over his father's masonry business, established in 1929, and ran it until his retirement. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mike is an enthusiastic reenactor, participating in events such as the Gathering and Frenchman’s Frolic.
Known for his quick wit and ever-ready collection of jokes, Mike brings a lighthearted touch to his work. He is passionate about sharing Macktown’s history and hopes to attract more visitors from afar to experience and learn from the site.
